Switching phone networks doesn’t mean switching your number.
If you’d like to keep the phone number you already know (and everyone else already has), number porting lets you bring it with you when you join SYMU.
Here’s how the number porting process works - and what to expect along the way.
What is number porting?
Number porting is the process of moving your existing phone number from your current network to a new one.
With SYMU, this means you can keep the same number while enjoying a simpler, eSIM-only phone plan - no plastic SIMs, no contracts, and no unnecessary hassle.
Can I keep my number when I switch to SYMU?
Yes. You can keep your existing UK mobile number when you move to SYMU.
All you need is a PAC code from your current provider. This allows us to transfer your number safely and securely.
How do I get a PAC code?
Getting a PAC code is quick and free.
You can request one from your current provider by:
- Texting PAC to 65075, or
- Requesting it through your provider’s account or support channels
Your PAC code is usually valid for 30 days. If it expires before you use it, don’t worry - you’ll just need to request a new one from your current provider.
How to Port Your Number to SYMU
Once you’ve got your PAC code, you’re ready for launch.
Step 1: Sign up and install your eSIM
Create your SYMU account and install your eSIM on your phone. You’ll be connected with a temporary SYMU number while we prepare the transfer.
Step 2: Head to your SYMU Account
Log in and navigate to the number transfer section. You’ll see your selected eSIM and current SYMU number there.
Step 3: Enter your details
- Enter your PAC code
- Enter the number you want to transfer
- Choose whether you want the transfer done ASAP or on a specific date
Step 4: Schedule the transfer
Hit Schedule Transfer, and we’ll take it from there.
We’ll coordinate with your old network and move your number across smoothly - no need to chase anyone or make awkward goodbye calls.
How long does number porting take?
Number porting usually completes within one working day.
In some cases, it may take a little longer - but we’ll keep you updated so you’re never left wondering what’s happening.
During the transfer, there may be a short window where calls or texts don’t work. This is normal and usually resolves quickly.
Will my service stop during the switch?
Your old SIM will continue to work until the porting process completes.
Once your number moves to SYMU, your old SIM will stop working and your SYMU eSIM will take over automatically.
Think of it as a smooth handover, rather than a sudden blackout.
When should I start the porting process?
It’s best to install your SYMU eSIM first, then submit your PAC code.
This way, everything is ready on your device before your number moves across - making the transition smoother.
What if something doesn’t work?
Most number ports go through without a hitch. But if something doesn’t feel right:
- Give it a little time - some changes aren’t instant
- Restart your phone to refresh the connection
- Check your SYMU Account for updates
If you still need help, contact our support team at hello@symu.co.uk, and we’ll step in to help.
